Why give?

  • The organic endeavor of sharing astrological insights and mindfulness tips is evolving. I intend to expand and sustain my work as a mindfulness practitioner. Donations are a symbol of gratitude and an exchange of energy that supports this vision.

  • I’ll be holding office hours, developing workshops, and providing readings and reflections as I build this business. This is just the start. All contributions are welcome.

  • There is dignity in all work, and all work has value. I am currently freelancing (I’m an editor by day) as I develop these offerings. These donations are life-sustaining for me and my family.

 FAQs

  • First, your donation goes to help me feed and house my family. Studying, synthesizing and writing these insights is a lot of work. Developing workshops and elevating this vision is too. The time I spend building this business is time that would otherwise be spent on other forms of work.

  • Yes. If you are a Mr. Rabbit customer, I will gladly accept a gift card to the shop; this supports Julia and Bob, the owners. I’m also open to bartering services—especially if you would like a personal reading, to attend a workshop, or to create a gift for someone special. Cash is also welcome.

  • I find mindful meditation and breathing are practical ways to stay grounded and decrease anxiety. Practicing presence helps me avoid getting caught up in ruminations. It also helps me stay connected with what is happening right now. Because I’ve been a single parent since my kid was a toddler, so I’ve had to figure out how to weave mindfulness into my day in small spurts. Seeing how mindfulness meditation has changed my life, inspires me to share practical strategies with others. Sharing this wisdom casually has encouraged me to nurture a more structured endeavor.

  • Mindfulness works with our biology to help us reach a state of calm and awareness. It helps us pay attention to the present moment and prevents us from allowing our thoughts to carry us away—mindlessly. Mindfulness supports us in regulating our emotions and accepting what is. Once we let go of attachments and stop resisting, we open ourselves up to the gifts in front of us. By practicing mindfulness daily, we’re more prepared to effectively manage stressors when they challenge us.

  • We can use astrology as a tool for personal understanding and growth. From the perspective that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it follows that the movement of the planets in our solar system alters energy in our atmosphere. Working with the energy present can aid us in determining where we focus our personal growth, as well as in what areas of our lives or interactions to exercise caution. Understanding our own astrological charts also helps to prevent us from catastrophizing about our personal traits. We learn to work with them and with the energy present, as opposed to getting attached to perfectionism or trying to “solve” all our “problems.” We’re able to see the lessons and our growth. We can act from own inner authority.

  • I was obsessed with sun signs in high school, then graduated to doing basic birth charts as my college bar trick. I gave it up after one astrology book in particular influenced my decision to break up with the love of my life (not my best move).

An intuit and synthesizer by nature, I remained connected to the healing arts and mindfulness meditation regardless. As an English Language Arts teacher, I used mindfulness, meditation, and yoga in the classroom. I have presented internationally on using mindfulness in the classroom, and refined my techniques attending conferences at Thanyapura in Phuket, Thailand.

In 2020, astrology re-entered my life through a live meditation with Jana Roemer on Insight Timer. This style complimented my meditation practice and was easy to integrate with mindfulness. Then, at the end of 2021, Briar Jacques handed me my complete natal chart. That ushered in a new era of seeing the self as a whole as opposed to unintegrated parts. Cue the revelations.

  • When I was a kid, people would say I was psychic. I definitely “felt” energy and assumed that intuiting the thin line between life and the other worlds was normal. Yes, things I said were often true or came true, but this was likely less prediction and likely more intuition. I also did not know how to manage my energy or that I could “do” anything with it; I lived in my emotions as a teen. If I ever was psychic, it was not a gift I nurtured.

I now know that this identification as a ‘psychic’ is that I am an intuit. An intuit is someone whose primary sense is perception and they gain an inordinate amount of information through subtle insights—we’re insightful. We are more in-tune with the energy around us and in the Universe. We process information viscerally. The talent comes in learning to trust and hone that intuition, and tap into it at will. I also channel.

This shows up in my chart in my 11th and 12th houses, primarily. My 11th house is in Scorpio, where my moon and Uranus are, and Venus and my midheaven are in an exact conjunction. Uranus, the planet of breakthroughs and awakenings, is exalted in Scorpio (as much as a modern planet can be exalted), and the midheaven (MC) is our purpose. Sometimes it aligns with our career and the 10th house, other times it does not. Eros also lives in my 11th (all of this in Scorpio is also very sexy 😉. In total, my 11th house represents how I bring my gifts to the community and The Collective. Honing in on my midheaven is why I finally feel aligned with my Self—by doing this work.

In my 12th house—the house of the soul, behind-the-scenes life, the unconscious and subconscious—are my sun, and Neptune, Mercury, and Mars conjunct. Ha! And yes, it did feel like a cruel joke until I understood how to work with my astrological signature. This puts me in Pisces territory even though my sun sign is Sagittarius. We live in the mystical. With most of my personal planets in these houses, an inordinate amount of energy from my chart goes here. The energy of 8 of my houses point to the 11th and 12th (the 12th house representing my inner, spiritual life, and the 11th how I connect with community). When I do not trust my intuition, my life can go terribly awry.
