The South Node in Virgo
January 2025-July 2026
On January 11, the nodes made big moves. The North Node left Aries, and settled into Pisces, while the South Node cozied up in Virgo after hanging out in Libra. The axis of Pisces and Virgo at the nodes is a big piece of 2025 astrology. It’s the first of many BIG changes this year, including Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter.
This means big things for the temperature of the world. Stay with me now. The nodes are the head and tail of the dragon, living at the parts of the moon where eclipses happen.
The South Node is the tail of the dragon, it sweeps everything away. It’s a place of release and loss. When a sign enters the South Node, the significations of that sign decreases. Since it’s in Virgo, we (society) will lose the desire for: facts, data, discernment. It can mean a loss of checks and balances. Ultimately, as the South Node transits through Virgo, it goes through a clearing and a healing. The first South Node Virgo eclipse happens in March. We will not know the full story until the eclipses begin. There may be a loss of doing things “correctly:” A loss of systems, loss of ritual, loss of facts, loss of the concrete. Eighteen months of a loss of systems feeds into some chaos. (I swear I drafted this well before January 20).
Personally, this will depend on where Virgo lives in your natal chart, there may also be a release of perfectionism. Societally, a reduction of perfectionism could serve us in our movements -- no person or political movement is perfect. We may need to double down on not having to be perfect in order to be allies, to be in community. We must maintain the ability to think critically.
This isn’t all bad. Think of it as an act of surrender. It’s a practice of acceptance, but with a poetic vibe. We’re on this ride until July 2026. Can we hone our intuition while staying grounded?
